Todd: So Travis, you said your brother is getting married.

托德：特拉维斯，你说过你哥哥要结婚了。

Marion: While I traveling in Australia I went to visit my friend Nicola, um, she’s teaching in a school on the East Coast of Australia, so I went to visit her about a month ago and she’s staying on a farm, she lives on a macadamia farm, so my friend and I went to visit her and stay at her place, so as part of the deal we had to go out and pick macadamia nuts for two hours every day, so usually we’d get up quite early in the morning and we’d go out and pick macadamia nuts for about an hour, and then just before it got dark in the afternoon or the evening we’d go out and pick nuts again for another hour. It was a lot of fun I think mainly because, you know, it wasn’t a proper job. We could take our time and we always had a laugh and a joke while we were there. Um, it was really nice to work outside, for awhile, you know, to work in the sunshine and also I’d never worked with macadamia trees before. Before I’d left Ireland I don’t think I’d even heard of macadamia trees, cause I think they’re a nut that’s native to Australia. I know they’re very popular in Hawaii as well. I think they were first cultivated for, for profit reasons in Hawaii. Yeah, so macadamia nuts are really, really tasty, so they’re very popular as souvenirs from Australia, so you often get chocolate covered macadamia nuts, or macadamia cookies to bring to your friends when you come home from Australia. What else can you get with Macadamia nuts? You can just eat them on their own as well, they’re very, very tasty. When we came back for breakfast, we used to bring a handful of macadamia nuts with us and use the nut cracker to open them up cause they’ve got a very very hard shell, so even if you throw them on the ground, it’s very difficult to open them up, so you have to have a nutcracker, to really crush the shell, and once you open them up inside, they’re very white, very pale in color and they almost look like nuggets of white chocolate. It’s quite strange and they have a real creamy taste to them, so they’re, yeah, probably one of my favorite things to eat in Australia.

玛丽恩：我在澳大利亚旅游的时候去拜访了我的朋友尼古拉，她在澳大利亚东海岸的一所学校教书，我大概一个月前去拜访了她，她住在农场里，一个坚果农场，我和我的朋友去看望了她，而且住在她那里，作为条件，我们每天必须有两个小时出去采摘坚果，通常我们早上很早起床，然后外出一小时采摘坚果，之后在下午或是晚上天黑之前我们会再次外出一小时采摘坚果。我认为那非常有趣，可能主要是因为这并不是一件正式工作。我们通常会不紧不慢地进行，而且采摘的时候经常有说有笑。嗯，在户外工作真的很舒服，你知道，在太阳下工作一小会儿，我以前绝对不会跟坚果树打交道。在我离开爱尔兰以前，我想我根本就没听说过坚果树，因为我认为坚果是澳大利亚特有的。我知道坚果在夏威夷也很普遍。我认为它们最初是因为利润而被种植在夏威夷的。坚果真的非常非常好吃，在澳大利亚它们像纪念品一样受欢迎，在你从澳大利亚返回家乡的时候你可以买坚果巧克力或是坚果饼干送给朋友们。你还可以买到用坚果做的什么？当然你也可以直接吃坚果，真的非常好吃。我们摘完坚果回来吃早饭的时候，通常会吃一些坚果，要用夹碎坚果的钳子来剥壳，因为坚果壳太硬了，即使你把它们扔在地上，也很难把壳剥掉，所以必须要用夹碎坚果的钳子来去掉坚果壳，把壳去掉以后，你会发现这些坚果肉非常白，颜色很淡，看起来就像白巧克力。很奇怪，它们尝起来像奶油的味道，这是我在澳大利亚最喜欢吃的食物之一。

Jessica: Ashley have you ever been horsebackriding?

杰西卡：阿什莉，你骑过马吗？

Todd: Jessica, I see you’re wearing a cute outfit!

托德：杰西卡，你的衣服真可爱！

Anna: I got married on May 18th, in 2002, and I wanted to have a very romantic wedding but also small and, so John and I started to have my wedding in our, my parents backyard, so we decorated the backyard and we invited just close family and friends and it was an outside wedding, it was really beautiful, and five days before the wedding it rained every single day, all day long, and the ground was really wet. It was terrible, and then the day of my wedding, the sun came out and it was a beautiful day, so sunny and we were so happy.

安娜：我在2002年5月18日结婚，我希望能办个特别浪漫的小型婚礼，所以约翰和我开始在我父母的后院准备婚礼，我们装饰了后院，只邀请了亲近的家人和朋友，因为是户外婚礼，所以非常漂亮，在婚礼的五天前每天都下雨，而且下一整天，地面非常湿滑。情况很糟糕，但是我婚礼的那天太阳出来了，天气特别好，阳光明媚，我们都非常开心。

Todd: OK, Now, Anna, you were telling a cute story about a special gift you gave your husband.

托德：好的，那现在安娜，你讲讲有关你送你丈夫特别礼物的有趣故事吧。

Todd: So, Travis, what is your favorite movie?

托德：特拉维斯，你最喜欢的电影是什么？

Todd: I usually get home from work at about 6:30 and when I get home the first thing I like to do is go jogging. Fortunately, my apartment is near a river and I go jogging on the river at night. It’s really beautiful. It’s really green. There’s lots of trees and fields along the river and it’s quite beautiful. The worst thing about my jog though are the dogs. There are river dogs that live along the river and they don’t have a home and they’re a little bit dangerous. Sometimes they threaten to chase you or bite you and when you jog by they often growl. Sometimes I have to keep a bottle of water to throw on them or maybe a stick so they don’t attack, but so far nothing’s happened. The best thing about the jog are the bats. When you jog at night there are bats that fly and they eat insects. This is right at sunset, as the sun goes down, and it’s really, really beautiful to see them, and when you jog amazingly they’ll fly at the same pace as you, I think because the insects maybe are attracted to the joggers body heat, but the bats will not get too close to the jogger, to me, they will only get about 4 or 5 feet from me, but they fly at the same pace. As I jog I can see them and it’s really, really beautiful to see them when I run.

托德：一般我下班到家的时间是6点半，我到家以后喜欢做的第一件事就是慢跑。幸运地是，我的公寓附近有条河，我晚上会沿着河慢跑。风景特别美。周围都是绿色的景物。河边有许多树木和田地，非常漂亮。最糟糕的事情是我慢跑的路上有狗。那些是河狗，就是住在河边的狗，它们没有家，这些狗有些危险。有时它们会威胁你，追着你或咬你，你跑过它们旁边的时候他们经常咆哮。有时我不得不拿瓶水扔向它们，或是用棍子扔它们，这样它们就不会发动攻击，不过到目前为止并没有发生什么事。慢跑过程中最棒的事情就是蝙蝠。你在夜里慢跑的时候会看到蝙蝠飞来飞去，吃昆虫。这是在马上就要日落的时候，太阳落山时，它们看起来非常非常美，最神奇的是，你慢跑的时候，它们会和你用一样的速度飞翔，我想可能是因为昆虫被慢跑者的体温吸引了，不过蝙蝠不会离慢跑者太近，对我来说，它们会和我保持4或5英尺的距离，不过它们会和我用相同的速度飞舞。我慢跑的时候可以看到它们，我在跑步的时候能看到它们真的很美好。

Marion: So you lived in Dublin for awhile, didn’t you Mauve? What’s life like in Dublin?

玛丽恩：你在都柏林住过一段时间，对吧，莫夫？都柏林的生活怎么样？

Todd: My favorite time of year is autumn, or fall. I like the fall season because I think that’s when the weather’s the best. It’s not too hot. It’s not too cold. It’s just nice and cool all the time. Also, usually it doesn’t rain that much in autumn. The trees also are really, really beautiful in the fall. I love the change in colors when the leaves turn from green to brown, and orange and yellow and I think it’s also really pretty to see the leaves on the ground. Also, I really like fall because I’m a big baseball fan and in the fall we have the baseball playoffs and it’s the start of the basketball season and the football season, so it’s a good time for me to watch sports on TV. Lastly, I like autumn because my birthday is in October, and um, October 2nd, and Halloween is in October and Thanksgiving is in November and these are all my, these are my three days throughout the year.

托德：一年中我喜欢的季节就是秋天。我喜欢秋天的原因是，我认为那是天气最好的时候。不会太热，也不会太冷。这个季节的天气是舒适又凉爽的。而且，秋季不太常下雨。秋天的树木非常非常漂亮。我喜欢树木颜色的变化，树叶会从绿色变成棕色，或是变成桔色或黄色，我认为掉落在地上的树叶看上去也很美。我喜欢秋天的另一个原因是，我是铁杆棒球迷，秋天是棒球的季后赛时间，也是篮球和橄榄球赛季开始的时间，所以这是我在电视上看比赛的绝佳时机。我喜欢秋天还因为我的生日在十月，嗯，10月2日，万圣节也在10月，11月还有感恩节，这是我一年中最喜欢的三天。
